FIRST Competition

WHEN I SAY “GO”, YOU SAY “FRO” is what’s stuck in everyone’s head right now. That’s right, you guessed it, we’re in competition mode. And man, let me tell you, it was one crazy weekend!

On the first day we brought the heat and showed no mercy! We were so hot that we held our ranking of third place for most of the day. However, the beginning of Sunday wasn’t quite so hot. In our second match of the day, our climber mechanism had a little issue, which brought our ranking down to thirteenth. But not to fear, our Pit team was there to save the day. Kady, our Chief Engineer, did what she had to do to get the job done.

Shortly afterwards, we were back up and running with everything working right in the nick of time for alliance selections. We are very grateful to have been selected by Team 1421, Team Chaos. Together we then picked the Team 5404, the Gearaffes. We then fearlessly went into quarter-finals together, but sadly that was as far as we went.

Our team then waited patently for awards. This was a special moment for us.

One of our founding mentors, Andy Windhausen,  found out that a group of students had nominated him for the Woody Flowers award!

We also won an award for our attention to safety and the way the entire team carried themselves. And let me tell you, our Lead Safety Engineer had tears in his eyes!

And, if this wasn’t enough to make us cry we also achieved something none of us were excepting! Drum roll please… WE WON THE ENGINEERING INSPIRATION AWARD! This award celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school or organization and community. This award also allows us to compete for the MAR District’s Championship version of this award.

We plan on putting our all into Seneca so we can get Henry into Districts with us! As you can tell, we have worked extremely hard to get to where we are, but we aren’t done yet! We plan on fighting until the very last second.

And if you would like to see Henry in action, feel free to come to our Demo Night to see him up close and personal!
