Mid-Summer
Hey all, happy summer! While you may have been relaxing in the sand, Team 5401 has been running its 2016 summer program to train incoming freshman and help retain skills among current members. And boy has it been a success with new members coming to the Wednesday meetings every week. We decided our summer project would be building our froshbot (Freshman Robot) to be able to compete in FIRST LogoMotion. The Assembly division is working on a drive train for it, the CAD division is working on what the different appendages for the bot could look like and the Frogrammers are doing general skills building and also converting all the Tim code (our 2016 Stronghold robot) from C++ to Java, as Java is more common in FRC. The business team is busy trying to line up sponsors for the upcoming season. Additionally, we have Freshman stations that work on two week intervals training incoming Freshman on basic machine and assembly skills. All of this is taking place at our temporary space at Robert K. Shafer Middle School while our new lab is being renovated at the High School!
From everyone at Team 5401 enjoy your summer!
